kumagusuku SASでは7月21日（金）から７月23日（日）までオランダ、ロッテルダムを拠点に活動しているゾーイ・ドントとルーベン・モルスの二人展「Symphony of a Thousand Frogs」を開催します。皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。
日本滞在の２ヶ月間、東京、茨城、栃木、京都と移動を続けたゾーイとルーベン。
「茨城のある農場に夜が訪れると、平穏な静寂はカエルのオーケストラによって破られた。田んぼから鳴き声の波が押し寄せてきたのだ。日本では「かえる」という言葉には「帰る」という意味もあるように、無事に家に帰るためのシンボルなのだ。それを知ったゾーイとルーベンは、未来への願いを込めて、カエルの鳴き声を展覧会のタイトルとサウンドトラックにすることを決めた。」
二人は、日常の非物質的な側面に大きな関心を寄せており、今回の展示では、時間という要素が中心的な役割を果たしています。ゾーイの作品は瞑想的なエクササイズの中で環境音にじっくり耳を傾け、ルーベンの作品は、テクノロジーや時間、進化し続ける特性についての考察です。
日本を旅することで、自分たちの実践、経験を新鮮な視点で見つめることができ、「 Symphony of a Thousand Frogs」で発表される作品は、京都で制作され、新しいアイデアと新たに発見したインスピレーションの賜物です。

Zoë d'Hont（1990）は学士にてファインアート、修士ではアートサイエンスを専攻。彼女の作品は、ファン・ゴッホ美術館（アムステルダム）、Hilton Art Lab（ロッテルダム）、Mom Art Space（ハンブルク）など、オランダ国内外の美術館、ギャラリー、フェスティバルで展示をしています。
過去数年にわたり、彼女は学際的なアーティスト活動を展開し、人々が空間や場所でどのような経験をするか、またその中でどのように移動し、それがどのように関係してくるかを調査してきました。
既存の構成、成り立ちを再解釈し再構築することで、私たちを取り巻く世界に意味を与えるツールとして、五感を研ぎ澄まし観察することが彼女の重要な一部となっています。彼女が扱う視覚的、聴覚的な素材は、自然、精神性、構成そのものへの関心から生まれたものです。
Zoë d’Hont (1990) studied Fine Art (BA) and ArtScience (MA). Her work has been exhibited at museums, galleries and festivals in the Netherlands and abroad, such as the van Gogh museum (Amsterdam), Hilton ArtLab (Rotterdam) and Mom Art Space (Hamburg). Over the past years she’s developed a interdisciplinary artist practice, where she investigates how people experience space and place, how they move through it and how they relate to it. By re-interpreting and re-situating existing compositions, notations and architectures, she emphasizes the importance of ritual and observation with al senses as tools to give meaning to the world that surrounds us. The visual and auditory material she works with, derives from an interest in nature, spirituality and composition itself. Working within a temporality of place, has become an important part of her artist practice.
Ruben Mols（1991）は、学士にてアムステルダムのサンドバーグ・インスティテュートでファイン・アートを学び、修士ではStudio for Immediate Spacesを専攻。彼の作品は、NDSM-werf（アムステルダム）、Art Rotterdam（ロッテルダム）、Hilton Art Lab（ロッテルダム）、その他多数の会場で展示をしております。過去のコラボレーションには、ベルギーのギャラリーM21、ドイツのヴュルツブルク大学などが挙げられ、オランダの国立芸術財団であるモンドリアン財団の支援を受けています。ルーベンは、好奇心と懐疑心を織り交ぜながら、情報技術の発展を批判的に考察しています。
この30年間で、テクノロジーはますます日常生活に浸透し、私たちと世界とのつながりに疑問を抱くようになりました。これらのデバイスたちは、私たちの心身にどのように差し響き、どのような影響を与えるのでしょうか？
Ruben Mols (1991) studied Fine Art (BA) and attended Studio for Immediate Spaces (MA) at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. His work has been exhibited in venues including NDSM-werf (Amsterdam), Art Rotterdam (Rotterdam), Hilton Art Lab (Rotterdam) and numerous others. Some of his past collaborations include Gallery M21 in Belgium and the University of Würzburg in Germany. Ruben is supported by the Mondriaan Fonds, the Dutch national foundation for the arts. With his work Ruben critically examines the development of information technology, blending together feelings of curiosity and skepticism. Over the last thirty years, this technology has become increasingly ingrained in daily life, leading Mols to question our connection to the world. How do these devices affect our relationship with our bodies and minds, and impact the understanding of our environments?
